When celebrities have highly photographed public events daily, it’s no surprise that they enlist a whole team of experts to make them look their absolute best for the camera. What is surprising, however, is when an A-list star like Scarlett Johansson says she does her own makeup for a big night, without the help of others.
According to her interview in the December issue of ELLE “Johansson prefers to do her own makeup—except when attending major galas.” Should we be skeptical or incredibly impressed? ELLE has proof of one major appearance where Johansson put her application skills to the test: when performing onstage at Coachella music festival. Johansson told ELLE, “I’m not particularly high maintenance. This wasn’t really work—it was pleasure.” She says her daily beauty routine includes “some sort of tinted moisturizer, mascara, and maybe a bronzer.”
