Sister Cristina Scuccia, the nun who won Italy’s version of The Voice with a powerful and shocking rendition of Alicia Keys’ No One back in March, has released her first single: a slowed-down, impressive cover of Madonna’s Like a Virgin. The 26-year-old singing nun defended her song choice to Italian newspaper Avvenire , saying, “without being influenced by previous interpretations, you discover that it is a song about the power of love to renew people and rescue them from their past.”
