Smash cannot be silenced. Two years after the NBC drama’s cancellation, a recent Actors Fund staging featuring its original music has sparked interest in full-on musical staging.
Though no book writer or cast members from the series (i.e. stars Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty) are attached at this time, and it’s only in development, the production would be an iteration of the drama’s meta Marilyn Monroe bio-musical, Bombshell.
said NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt “There is a still a lot of love for Smash and a rabid fan base out there, and we’re thrilled to be able to keep the dream alive as we work towards bringing Bombshell to theatre audiences,” .
