While the Coen brothers-led jury showed no love for Paolo Sorrentino’s Youth in Cannes, the new film swept the box office in his home country Italy.
The film, which stars Michael Caine, Harvey Keitel, Rachel Weisz, Jane Fonda and Paul Dano, brought in $2.88 million, almost double its closest competitor, Disney’s Tomorrowland, which debuted with $1.47 million.
And Nanni Moretti’s My Mother, held on to the number ten spot with $212,289.
