“Stevie, I can’t put it any other way: You’re great.” Paul McCartney’s forthright compliment was just one of many personal spoken or musical tributes dedicated to Stevie Wonder during the taping of the Songs In The Key Of Life — An All-Star Grammy Salute, a show that will air Feb. 16 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. The Recording Academy roped in a who’s who in music to perform Wonder’s hits. The event was named after his 1976 album that has become a favorite among the music elite such as Elton John, George Michael, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. A montage of Wonder’s contributions to the civil rights movement, including his major influence on turning Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday into national holiday, introduced Wonder near the end of the night before he capped it with an eight-song set.
