Supergirl star Melissa Benoist isn’t scared of the “romantic comedy” label that’s been (often pejoratively) slapped on her new series following the first few minutes of footage being released to the public this week. Instead, she’s embracing it by comparing the show to what’s generally accepted to be one of the greatest films ever made in that genre.
When asked what drew her to the part of Kara Zor-El Benoist told Variety, “She’s a strong female and a female hero which I think is so important and will speak to so many people at this time right now in the world, ‘She’s like the Annie Hall of superheroes'”
