A Tolkien fan going by the moniker TolkienEditor has taken Peter Jackson’s entire “The Hobbit” trilogy and shrunk it down to a single four-hour film. To accomplish this, TolkienEditor had to do a series of both major and minor cuts, most of which are outlined on The Tolkien Edit page. For example, the investigation of Dol Guldor, the prelude with old Bilbo, and the Tauriel-Legolas-Kili love triangle have been taken out completely, and several action scenes have been significantly cut down. Browsing through the comments on The Tolkien Edit site, not all fans liked some of the cuts, but some sacrifices needed to be made to chop the overall 7.9-hour run time of a trilogy in half.
