In between all the death and destruction during the intense hour, everyone had to say goodbye to Nina Dobrev’s Elena as Christopher Wood’s Kai linked her to Bonnie, played by Kat Graham.
That means as long as Bonnie stays alive, Elena will be stuck in a “sleeping beauty” coma, preserved perfectly until Bonnie dies.
While everyone immediately assumed that Ian Somerhalder’s Damon would kill Bonnie to get the love of his life back; he surprised even himself by saving his best friend and saying goodbye to Elena…for the next 60-70 years, at least.
