Doctor Strange is about to get stranger. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tilda Swinton is in talks to join the cast of the Marvel superhero film. Her rumored role is the Ancient One, a 500-year-old Tibetan mystic who mentors Dr. Strange. The role is originally male in the comics, but Swinton defies your silly gender constructs. The Oscar-winning actress and noted David Bowie doppelgänger is used to breaking gender barriers for roles, recently playing a male character named Mason in the 2013 thriller Snowpiercer. She’s also no stranger to otherworldly and comic book roles, previously playing a witch in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, a vampire in Only Lovers Left Alive and the angel Gabriel in Constantine, the 2005 flick based on the DC comic book series Hellblazer.
