The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Ed Zwick and Marshall Hersovitz are re-reteaming with their The Last Samurai star Tom Cruise to tackle a Jack Reacher sequel. Paramount and Skydance are behind the new installment, which continues the adventures of a former military MP who helps people out. Zwick and Herskovitz are in talks to write the new script, which will be based on the book Never Go Back, with Zwick to sit in the director’s chair. Zwick last directed the chess drama Pawn Sacrifice, which starred Tobey Maguire and Liev Shreiber as masters Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky. The veteran director is known for movies such as Blood Diamonds, Legends of the Fall and Glory.
