Tom Cruise took a break from filming Mission: Impossible 5 in London to present the best film honor at Sunday night’s BAFTA film awards. Cruise announced Richard Linklater’s Boyhood as the winner towards the end of the ceremony. Linklater, who was at the DGA awards on Saturday, which honored Birdman director Alejandro G. Inarritu, wasn’t present to pick up the award. Ethan Hawke and producer Cathleen Sutherland accepted the honor for him. On stage Hawke said, “He was hijacked by the DGAs and sat there losing and is going to be frankly pissed off that he’s not here tonight.” Sutherland added: “Wow, Rick is really gonna be mad about this.”
