Tom Hiddleston has signed on to star in Legendary’s King Kong origins story Skull Island, which will be directed by indie helmer Jordan Vogt-Roberts. Legendary announced plans to tackle the film — based on an original script by MaxBorenstein — during Comic Con in July. Previous King Kong film incarnations have touched on the mysterious island, but Legendary sparked to a full exploration of the story that parallels its other monster-themed productions. Hiddleston is best known for playing Thor’s nemesis and brother, Loki, in Marvel’s Thor, Thor: The Dark World and The Avengers but will now switch to the King Kong universe in an unspecified role.
