Actor Tom Holland has beaten out young stars like Asa Butterfield and Nat Wolff to land the leading role in a new “Spider-Man” franchise.
Holland will play Peter Parker and his superhero alter ego in the new movie, which will be directed by Jon Watts.
Producer Amy Pascal says, “(We) all knew that for Peter Parker, we had to find a vibrant, talented young actor capable of embodying one of the most well-known characters in the world. With Tom, we’ve found the perfect actor to bring Spider-Man’s story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
Holland will reportedly make his debut as Spider-Man in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War” and star in a new stand alone film scheduled to hit theaters in July 2017.
