Paddington , the live-action and CGI adaptation of the popular children’s books, took the top spot in the U.K. box-office ranking, scoring the biggest U.K. opening weekend ever for studio and distributor StudioCanal. According to StudioCanal, the film, starring Hugh Bonneville , Nicole Kidman and Julie Walters , with Ben Whishaw voicing the bear, earned a weekend total of $8 million across 520 sites, with a per-screen average of $15,500.
