In the first six months of 2015, cinemas across the U.K. recorded 83 million admissions. That’s a 10 percent increase over the figures from the same period last year, according to new statistics published by the British Film Institute. The number of films released jumped, too, hitting 358 titles through July 12, compared to last year’s 342, and seeing total box office revenue reach $917 million, up from 2014’s $760 million. Blockbusters including this year’s biggest hit so far, Jurassic World, were credited with getting more people into theaters. Films made in the U.K. madeup 32 percent of the box office, the highest share since 2012. They included Avengers: Age of Ultron, and U.K./U.S. co-productions including The Theory of Everything and Kingsman: The Secret Service.
