While they were totally adorable in the public eye, not everything was rainbows and unicorns when it came to Vanessa Hudgens‘ and Zac Efron‘s relationship behind closed doors. Speaking on her role in Broadway’s Gigi, the 26-year-old opened up to the New York Times about her life, including her five-year relationship with the hunky heartthrob and the struggles that came with it. While referring to Efron’s enormous legion of female fans, Hudgens said, “I went through a phase when I was really mean because I was so fed up. Girls were running after him, and I was giving them death stares.” Hudgens added that she got over that challenge and came to realize that those fans were also her fans.
