In the wake of the Confederate flag controversy that has been reignited since the Charleston massacre, Warner Brothers has announced it will stop production on the Dukes of Hazzard car bearing the Confederate flag.
WB announced in a statement “Warner Bros. Consumer Products has one licensee producing die-cast replicas and vehicle model kits featuring the General Lee with the confederate flag on its roof — as it was seen in the TV series, We have elected to cease the licensing of these product categories.”
The car — known as “General Lee” — bears the Confederate flag on its roof. Amazon, Walmart, Sears and eBay have all banned sales of the flag’s image after nine people were murdered in a racially-motivated church shooting in South Carolina.
