In 1985, seven curious kids in the children’s adventure film The Goonies took audiences on their journey to find a pirate’s ancient treasure in hopes to save a family home from foreclosure.
So what have the kids been up to since The Goonies hit theaters 30 years ago?
Though not all of the seven hit the big time following the cult classic; two in particular have gone on to stellar cinematic careers.
Sean Astin’s film debut as Mikey Walsh launched a remarkable career for the now venerable actor. In each decade since The Goonies, Astin has landed a trademark role; including Rudy from the 90s, and Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy released in the early 2000s.
Josh Brolin can also attribute his career’s early success to the 80s flick. Since 2007, he’s had a renaissance of high-profile roles. His latest role in the 2014 film, Inherent Vice, earned the actor a number of award nominations.
