The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed, J.K. Simmons is set to host Saturday Night Live on Jan. 31. It’s the first time Simmons has hosted the NBC sketch-comedy show, although his IMDb credits list him as having appeared on a 1999 episode hosted by Jerry Seinfeld alongside three of his The Wire co-stars, who were playing their characters from the show. The Whiplash star is having a big year, having already earned a Golden Globe Award along with an Oscar nomination for his role as the abusive music teacher to Miles Teller’s student drummer.
