His whiny, muffled lyrics over booming production spread like wild fire and became the go-to love song to for trap couples everywhere. Soon after, “Trap Queen” went from the streets of North Jersey to radio stations across the country. About a year and 21 million hits later, the Paterson, N.J. rapper finds himself with a deal and a performance with Kanye West to brag about. Complex spoke to Fetty about growing up in one of Jersey’s roughest cities, his love for Gucci Mane, and what it was like performing with Kanye.
