One year ago, almost to the day, Carrie Underwood and Bill from True Blood found themselves at the sacrificial altar of the Internet as they took the stage in NBC’s super-crazy-risky live production of Sound of Music. The comments on Twitter, as you recall, were ruthless. Everything from Underwood’s acting to the clothing to the classic musical itself were a target. According to figures released by Nielsen SocialGuide the day after it aired, in all, 449,540 no-doubt snark-filled Tweets were sent while the show aired, and were seen 68 million times. Despite the haters, strong ratings convinced NBC to greenlight this year’s “Peter Pan Live,” starring Allison Williams as Peter, and Christopher Walken as Captain Hook.
