The Grateful Dead reunited last weekend for three final, sold-out shows at Chicago’s Soldier Field, and now, audio from each gig is available to stream via New Hampshire radio station, WMWV.
After two warm-up shows in the Bay Area, the Dead — with Trey Anastasio filling in for the late Jerry Garcia — kicked off their Soldier Field stand with a tremendous set comprising classics (“Box of Rain,” “Jack Straw,” “Bertha”) and curveballs (“Mason’s Children,” “New Potato Caboose”).
Everything fell into place, though, for the Dead’s final show, with highlights like “Truckin,'” “Estimated Prophet,” “Built to Last” and closer “Attics of My Life” creating a sense of bittersweet culmination.
