Liam Neeson’s Taken 3 opened to a strong $1.6 million Thursday night as it started rolling out in 2,499 locations. That bested the $1.5 million earned by Taken 2 on its first Thursday night in fall 2012, and is just behind the $1.7 million earned a year ago by Lone Survivor. Based on those initial results, the $48 million film, produced by Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp and distributed by Fox, should have no trouble clearing $30 million and could hit $35 million.
