In an on-air interview with the Power 105.1 radio show The Breakfast Club on Friday, 27-year-old rapper Kendrick Lamar confirmed he is engaged to his high school sweetheart, Whitney Alford, following recent rumors.
When asked if the reports were true, he said, “Yeah, definitely. I’m loyal to the soil.” Lamar, who is notoriously private, and Alford are rarely photographed together in public. “She’s been here since day 1,” he said. “I wouldn’t even call her my girl,” Lamar had told Billboard in an interview published in January. “That’s my best friend. I don’t even like the term that society has put in the world as far as being a companion—she’s somebody I can tell my fears to.”
