Industry trade Variety reported on Wednesday that Neil Patrick Harris, whose many talents have made the Tonys a watchable TV event and who took on his first Emmys this year, has been tapped to host the Academy Awards. Though Harris has performed on the telecast, it would be his first turn as Oscar host. It also puts Harris one turn as Grammys host away from a whole new kind of EGOT — Emmys, Grammys, Oscars and Tonys. Harris appeared to confirm the news via short video on the all-in-one site MobyPicture. The video was of NPH’s “bucket list,” the final item of which was, of course, “Host the Oscars.”
