With $5.5 billion in 2014 worldwide box office grosses, 20th Century Fox just eclipsed Paramount Pictures to become king of the global box office mountain. With a mixture of home runs ( X-Men: Days of Future Past , Dawn of the Plane of the Apes ), doubles and triples ( The Fault in Our Stars , The Maze Runner ) and plenty of other solid hits (13 movies passed $100 million internationally) Fox took the title from Paramount, which held the record since 2011 (when it had Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol ).
